Birds on a wire. Limited edition of 50 risograph prints.
2022
One day as I was working in my kitchen, I noticed a bird land on the aerial of the house next door. He was soon followed by another one, then another one, until there was a whole flock just stood there in a line, seemingly looking at me. It really felt as if they were plotting something (although maybe not in as sinister a way as the film Birds) so I quickly captured the moment before they all flew away.
Sometimes later I found the photo again, and it stills make me smile so I started to experiment with it.
I accentuated the pop art feel of the image through the slightly surreal colours, and stripped back the image as much as I could, until the birds look drawn on a painted sky.
