Into the Night. Limited edition of 45 risograph prints.

Another riso print based on a photo I took in London, out on a wet night a few years ago. The glow of the street lamp, the glistening wet pavements, a lone figure to the side, this photo had the making of a great print.

Rather than make it too dark and menacing, I chose vibrant colours to bring a bit of fun to the composition. I used 3 colours/layers to build the image, but with different opacity levels and overlays to create a richly colourful print.

Maybe it is an effect of lockdown, but nights out in the city feel very evocative at the moment: the possibilities they open up, the mysteries they reveal. There is so much pleasure in losing oneself in the moment and see where the night can take us…
