Pin Up Love. Limited edition of 50 risograph prints.

2020

This lovely pin-up is my second risograph print, still printed with Duplikat Press.

It is based on an original charcoal drawing of a semi-nude girl, which I coloured digitally. I don’t often use type in my prints but this one was crying out for it. Her pose and curves made me think of old pin-ups illustrations so I decided to lean into this with the text and the font I used.

The image has a bit of a punky, DIY vibe with the simpler line work, the bright colours and the messy halftones, so I felt it would be very suitable for risograph printing, and the resulting print doesn’t disappoint. The colours are vibrant, and the slight misregistrations inherent to risograph printing only add to the effect. She looks like the sort of girl that would be printed in home-made fanzines or tattooed on arms in seedy parlours.

The overall impression is of a cheeky, whimsical print, ready to brighten your life and your walls! Are you ready to take her home?
