Above the world. Limited edition of 20 screenprints on paper.

A few years ago, on a trip to Morocco, we flew over the Atlas Mountains in a hot air balloon just as the sun was rising. It was a breathtaking moment- the calmness of the world, the vastness of the horizon, and the amazing sunrise.
Revisiting some of the photos I took that day, I wanted to try and convey the beauty of the light, the silence of the morning, and that sense of being alone on earth.
I worked on my image digitally to accentuate the force of the light, adding flares and artefacts until the luminosity almost obliterated the image. Working in CMYK to print it (my first time using this technique!), I carried on with my efforts to dissolve the image: the light had obliterated the world, and in turn was being obliterated into the colourful (and visible) halftone, as if diffracted through a prism.
So in the end, there is only colour left.
