This print, for me, is a breathing space, very meditative and quiet, like foot steps in freshly fallen snow.
I created it while in the middle of working on the neon prints, which all have vibrant colours, lots of layers and busy designs, so this print really felt like a breath of fresh air amidst my other work. I
It is based on a photo I took near my house in North London at the start of one winter, in a cold blue evening just after it had snowed. I wanted a stencilled, simplified look for it, and got it down to three layers in different hues of blue. It keeps the quiet and contemplative mood of that evening but also has a certain drawn quality about it, like a frame from a graphic novel.
Where is the person on the left going to, and are they the hero of the novel, or just a random passer-by?
